These past days have been a time of reflection for me. While I leave FH, I carry with me a sense of pride at what FH Out Front has accomplished and what this team of bloggers has forged for our firm.
This was the first blog by an FH practice group when we started this site on National Coming Out Day in October of 2006. It remains the only blog focused on lesbian an gay communications, just Google that phrase and note that this site tops the search list.
It took me quite a while to warm up to blogging, and I eventually came to like the forum. I also have come to admire the notoriety our bloggers have brought to the practice group and to the firm. This has become a platform for many other opportunities including guest spots on other blogs and speaking invitations for PRSA panels and LGBT travel conferences. It’s also become an outlet for many of us to share our passion for issues addressed in gay and lesbian communications and engagement as well as our passion for social media.
In that forum, it also has become a way to further FH Out Front’s pioneering spirit, from being the first global gay and lesbian communications practice by a major PR firm to our being one of the earliest FH practice groups to join Twitter or host a Facebook fan page.
And while two of the three co-chairs who began this blog are no longer with the firm, we have a strong core of bloggers – under the passionate leadership of Ben – who bring varied and thought provoking perspectives to this blog and its readers regularly.
As I move to new chapter of my career and become a spectator of this team, look for my personal email address to be added to your RSS feed, Twitter, Facebook and whatever other tool comes along. I hope other readers already are doing that, too.
FH Out Front, it’s been great blogging with you!
I recently discovered the blog and enjoyed your post. Lay offs suck. Best of luck to you! Charlene S.
Steve, there has been so much you’ve taught me and exposed me to in your exploration of LGBT communications. You helped to foster a unique interest and support of strengthening communications across borders for me and I am grateful. I look forward to seeing more from you in the coming years. You will certainly be missed.
